Therapeutic Intentions Muscular Therapy
What is Muscular Therapy?
Treatments are individualized, intensive and extensive, sometimes focusing 90 minutes, if necessary, on area of chronic pain. Using a combination of modalities listed below, clients experience a complete array of treatments facilitating healing. With these deep-tissue techniques, most clients experience little or no pain the following day.
Myofascial Mobilization
With slow deep strokes the connective tissue fabric known as fascia begins to melt and enable deeper work into the muscular layer of the body. Myofascial work restores movement and flexibility of the body. This technique loosens areas of the muscle that feel "stuck."
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)
NMT breaks the cycle of pain that may begin with injury, illness, stress or other factors. Muscles and connective tissues with poor blood circulation can house 'trigger points' that pass pain onto other areas of the body. NMT focuses on increasing blood flow to flush waste from muscular tissue. The ultimate goal of NMT is to rid the muscle of trigger points and adhesions gluing other muscle/connective tissue. This allows the muscle to return to its intended length, and this, in turn, takes stress off of the nervous system and other areas of the body. Lengthening, stretching, and pressure techniques to muscles & trigger points eliminate waste and release pain that is stored within the muscle.
Active Isolated Stretching (AIS)
Active Isolated Stretching is one of the methods of stretching most used by today's athletes, massage therapists, personal/athletic trainers, and professionals. AIS allows the body to repair itself and to strengthen weak muscles which allows you to regain your normal activity and hobbies. AIS involves the method of holding each stretch for only two seconds. This method of stretching is also known to work with the body's natural physiological makeup to improve circulation and increase the elasticity of muscle joints and fascia.
What Can You Expect?
At Your first visit we will discuss your daily routines, work habits, the pain you are experiencing, any injuries, or surgeries you may have had. You will receive a clinical evaluation and hands-on assessment to find the possible root of the pain. During the first treatment, I will educate you concerning your muscular health. I will then create a treatment plan to help alleviate pain and bring your body back into a healthy state.
